Berkeley Carnival Revolution is back for 2026 with “Head Lines,” a thought-provoking and visually stunning exploration of community gossip and unaddressed issues. Known for our iconic cartoon-like large heads, we aim to highlight how communities often discuss problems in whispers rather than confronting them directly.

This year’s theme plays on the role of media in the public’s perception of current events. From the 9 day shelf life of ‘hot topics’ and inaccurate reporting, to sensationalism and a lack of accountability.

Each headpiece will serve as a larger-than-life portrayal critiquing journalism, and prompting a reflection on the role of the media. Join us as we parade through the streets, turning heads and making headlines emphasizing the importance of responsible reporting in the media with our 2026 portrayal.
